Introduction
From 7 to 16 August 2026, the Grachtenfestival fills Amsterdam's canals with classical and jazz music, staging concerts at intimate and unexpected venues along the water — many of them free.
The Grachtenfestival celebrates classical music (with a jazz strand) at venues you don't normally associate with a concert hall — courtyards, historic houses, pontoons and gardens along the canals. Over ten days it showcases young talent and established names in some of the city's most atmospheric settings.
Why visit
Many performances are free, and the canal-side locations make it a uniquely Amsterdam way to hear live music on a summer evening.
