Introduction
On 12–13 September 2026, Open Monument Days throw open the doors of historic buildings and monuments across Amsterdam — many of them rarely accessible — for free.
Open Monument Days (Open Monumentendag) is your chance to step inside Amsterdam's heritage for free: canal houses, churches, courtyards and other historic buildings open their doors, many of them normally closed to the public, often with tours and special programmes around a yearly theme.
Why visit
It's free and a rare look behind doors you usually only pass on the street. Plan a route around the buildings you most want to see.
