Paradiso is Amsterdam's legendary music venue, set in a converted 19th-century church near Leidseplein. Since the late 1960s it has been one of the city's cultural landmarks, its stained-glass windows looking down on everyone from breaking bands to global stars.

What to expect

By night it switches between live concerts across every genre and late club nights, spread over the main hall and a smaller room upstairs.

The church setting — high ceilings, a balcony and that great rose window — lends even a small gig a real sense of occasion.

Good to know

Check the programme and buy tickets ahead for popular shows. Some events ask for a small membership on top of the ticket, a long-standing Dutch club tradition.

It's a few minutes' walk from Leidseplein, ringed by bars for a drink before or after.
