Introduction
For one night on 7 November 2026, dozens of Amsterdam's museums open their doors after dark (19:00–02:00) with special tours, performances and music — an adults' night out around the city's culture.
Museum Night turns an ordinary evening into a citywide cultural party. Around fifty museums stay open late with one-off programmes — guided tours, live music, DJs, talks and performances you won't see by day. A single ticket gives access to all participating venues, and night transport links them up.
Why visit
It's the liveliest way to experience Amsterdam's museums, aimed at a younger, 18+ crowd. Plan a route in advance, because you can't see everything in one night.

Tickets for Museum Night 2026 go on sale on 25 September at 11:00, only via museumnacht.amsterdam. Set a reminder: the night sells out most years, often weeks in advance.
Tickets & route
One ticket covers every participating museum for the whole night (19:00-02:00). Buy online ahead of the night, plan a route around three or four museums you really want to see, and use the night transport between them. Some museums work with timed entry for their headline programme.
Buy only through the official site
Unofficial resellers advertise the same ticket for around EUR 65 - roughly two and a half times the official price of recent editions. There is no upgrade or extra access involved: the only legitimate route is the official ticket page on museumnacht.amsterdam.
What does it cost?
A single combination ticket gives access to all participating museums. The 2025 edition cost EUR 25; the current 2026 price is confirmed on the official ticket page from 25 September. Note that the Museumkaart and the I amsterdam City Card are NOT valid during Museum Night - everyone needs a Museum Night ticket.
Free return visit afterwards
As at recent editions, the wristband also gave you one free return visit to a participating museum until 31 December - handy for the museum you only saw half of. Check the official FAQ for the exact conditions of the 2026 edition.
What the programme looks like
Every museum builds a one-off night programme: guided tours through the collection, live music and DJ sets in the halls, performances, talks, workshops and pop-up bars. Big names such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Stedelijk and NEMO usually take part alongside dozens of smaller houses, and the full line-up is published on the official site a few weeks before the night.
Which museums take part?
Around fifty museums and cultural venues across the city, from the Museumplein institutions to small houses in Noord and West. The definitive list per edition is published on museumnacht.amsterdam.
Does it sell out?
Yes - Museum Night sells out most years, often in the weeks before the night. Book as soon as sales open rather than counting on tickets at the door.
Good to know
It is an 18+ event and the popular museums get busy between 21:00 and 23:00. Start at a smaller museum, save the big names for late, and bring ID.
