About the experience
This is Holland is an interactive experience in Amsterdam. A 5D flight experience soaring over the Netherlands' landscapes, in Noord.
Good to know
The story behind the attraction is the Netherlands’ long relationship with water: a country shaped by dikes, reclaimed land and the effort to keep the sea at bay. Introductory presentations give that landscape some context before the main ride, so the experience is more than a sequence of scenic views. Rather than a collection of objects in galleries, the emphasis is on audiovisual storytelling, making this a different proposition from a traditional museum.
During the main ride, suspended seats leave your feet dangling in front of a large, curved screen. Movement, wind, mist and scents help create the sensation of travelling through the scenery. Afterwards, the waterfront around Overhoeks offers an easy change of pace. Eye Filmmuseum and A’DAM Tower are nearby, while the IJ promenade gives you room for a stroll and views towards the city centre. It is a convenient area to explore before taking the ferry back towards Centraal Station.
