Introduction
Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027. In Amsterdam it is celebrated around Nieuwmarkt and the Zeedijk with lion dances, drums and firecrackers.
Amsterdam's Chinatown around the Zeedijk and Nieuwmarkt comes alive for the new year, with traditional lion dances passing shops and restaurants.
The public celebrations are usually held on or close to the new-year date. Check local announcements for the exact programme.
