On the Tweede van der Helststraat in De Pijp, GlouGlou is the city's natural-wine pioneer, going strong since 2015. With low lighting, tiled floors, bottle-covered brick walls and tiny tables, it feels like a neighbourhood Parisian bistro — and every one of its sixty-plus natural wines is available by the glass.

The winemakers work without pesticides or artificial additives and add little or no sulphur, so the wines are characterful and sometimes cloudy. It's an easy, unpretentious place to explore 'vins naturels' with friendly, knowledgeable staff to guide you.

What to expect

Expect a relaxed, buzzy little room that draws a loyal local crowd. Pair your glass with the much-loved dukkah focaccia and other small snacks, and grab the flower-lined back terrace when the sun's out. The staff are happy to recommend something if you're not sure where to start.

Good to know

There are no reservations — just turn up, and the staff will seat you when it's busy. Found a favourite? Buy the bottle to take home from the little shop, at the bar price minus fifteen euros.
