On the industrial western outskirts of Amsterdam, flanked by oil tankers and scrap yards, Thuishaven is one of the city's most unconventional and beloved clubs. It feels less like a venue and more like a permanent, ever-evolving little festival.
It runs in two seasons: summer (May to September) as an open-air venue with stages set among the industrial surroundings, and winter (October to April) indoors, including a heated hangar. The interior is decorated with curiosities salvaged from the area.
What to expect
Expect house, techno and minimal from esteemed names, a warm, festival-like atmosphere, and a friendly crowd that comes for long, immersive days and nights. In summer especially, it's a destination in its own right.
Good to know
It's on the western edge in Westpoort, well out of the centre, so plan transport carefully — events often run very long. Check which season and dates are on, as the open-air summer programme is the highlight.
