Built as a dedicated home for live music, Het Concertgebouw is especially celebrated for its acoustics. The rectangular Main Hall follows the traditional ‘shoebox’ concert-hall model, with an ornate interior that makes a performance feel like an occasion. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra takes its name from the building and performs here regularly, but the venue also welcomes visiting orchestras and soloists. The more intimate Recital Hall offers a different setting, particularly suited to chamber music.
