La Perla
A much-loved wood-fired pizzeria in the heart of the Jordaan.

On a Jordaan side street nicknamed 'Little Italy' for its cluster of Italian restaurants, La Perla is the one that makes pizza — and many call it the best in Amsterdam. It spans two spots on opposite corners: a sit-down pizzeria and a walk-in counter for takeaway, both with outdoor seating.
Pizzas are baked in a large wood-fired brick oven, the key to the charred, flavourful Neapolitan crust, using ingredients imported straight from Italy — including Campanian buffalo mozzarella.
The food
The classics — Margherita, Puttanesca, Quattro Formaggi — are excellent, alongside more inventive specials like the Calabrese with nduja. There are also salads, antipasti and pasta, plus tiramisu to finish. Pizzas are made fresh to order, so they must be ordered in person.
Good to know
It's small and very popular, so expect a buzz and possibly a short wait at peak times. Grab a terrace seat for the lively Jordaan people-watching, or take a pizza to go from the counter across the street.
