On the lively Ten Katemarkt in Oud-West, Bar Centraal is the bigger sibling of De Pijp's GlouGlou, from the same team. It keeps the natural-wine ethos but adds a proper kitchen, so an evening can roll easily from aperitif into dinner.
The space splits in two — eat at the bar of the open kitchen, or settle in the larger wine-bar area, with a big wine fridge in between. The list of natural wines makes the Star Wine List, and the staff are happy to steer you toward something interesting.
What to expect
Expect a relaxed, sociable spot where most dishes, from bitterballen to burrata, are meant to be shared. It's busier and more food-focused than GlouGlou, so it works as well for a full meal as for a glass and a snack.
Good to know
There's a terrace for sunny days, right by the buzz of the Ten Kate market. It gets busy in the evenings and at weekends, so come a little earlier or be ready to wait for a table.
