Loetje Centraal sits directly opposite Amsterdam Centraal Station, inside the monumental Zuid-Hollandsch Koffiehuis. The listed building is full of Dutch and Delft-blue details, and from the windows and the terrace you look out over the water, the canal boats and the bustle of the Prins Hendrikkade.
It is the most convenient Loetje for visitors: step off the train, cross the Stationsplein and you are there. That makes it a practical first or last meal in the city, or a break between museums and shopping.
The food
The star is the same as at every Loetje: biefstuk à la Loetje, pan-fried tenderloin in the famous jus, with white bread to dip, fries and a salad. The menu also has a vegetarian 'biefstuk 0.0', tuna steak, chicken satay and classic Dutch bar snacks for with a drink.
Good to know
It opens at 10:00 every day, so you can come for coffee as well as lunch and dinner. Because it sits on the main tourist route it gets busy at peak times; booking ahead through the Loetje website is sensible. There is no parking at the door — the nearest garage is P1 Amsterdam Centraal at Prins Hendrikkade 20A, about ten minutes' walk.
