Franzen
Buzzing wine-restaurant in the Verhulststraat — meat-sharing platters, an exceptional list by the glass and Oud-Zuid at its liveliest.

Franzen brought noise, in the best sense, to a quiet stretch of Oud-Zuid: a packed, convivial room built around meat platters for sharing — perfectly cooked steak, venison in season — with fish and vegetable plates that hold their own, and a wine list that solo diners praise specifically for its by-the-glass depth. Handwritten birthday cards on tables tell you how the house thinks about hospitality. Mind the upsell energy on champagne and snacks at the start, order with intent, and it's one of the quarter's most enjoyable evenings. Closed Sunday and Monday.
