Tweede Thuys

The name means "second home" and the place takes it literally: a bright corner spot on the Postjeswetering where the kitchen roams freely — a tomato salad that steals reviews, aubergine and courgette plates, honest mains — at prices that keep locals coming weekly. The big terrace looks over the water and catches the evening sun, complete with Amsterdam's wild parakeets crossing overhead. Service is friendly if stretchable at peak times. Best enjoyed as it's designed: a stack of starters, something to share, no rush whatsoever.
