Eetcafé Rosereijn
Time-honoured brown eetcafé on the Haarlemmerdijk — Dutch comfort plates, chicken satay and the local welcome tourists hope exists.

Rosereijn is the Amsterdam eetcafé as it's supposed to work: brown-café bones, daily specials chalked up, chicken satay and other Dutch comfort staples done honestly, and hosts who treat strangers who wandered in from the rain like regulars by dessert. Prices are fair for the postcode, dinner ends at a civilised ten, and reservations are possible but rarely essential outside weekends. For visitors wanting "a real local place" without leaving the centre's orbit — this is the answer.
