Oosterparkbuurt — Amsterdam Oost's green, layered heart

A dense, richly mixed neighbourhood wrapped around the Oosterpark, where late-19th-century blocks meet Wereldmuseum Amsterdam, the Dappermarkt and one of the city's most interesting food scenes.

The Oosterparkbuurt wraps around the leafy Oosterpark — the city's first large public park outside the canal belt — and is anchored by the Tropenmuseum on its northern edge.

One of the most diverse neighbourhoods in Amsterdam, with Ethiopian, Eritrean, Surinamese, Syrian and Turkish kitchens next to third-wave coffee bars and natural-wine spots.

The Dapperstraat street market on the eastern edge is one of the best daily markets in the city.
